Summer at Livermore Falls

The Friends of the Pemi – Livermore Falls Chapter has been busy preparing for this summer season at Livermore Falls.  In coordination with the State through the Department of State Parks, the Friends are happy to announce the Second Saturday Program.  On each second Saturday from May to September, the Friends invite the public to visit Livermore Falls at 10am for a series of presentations about the recreation, history, environment and future plans within our newest State park.

On May 9, 2015, the environment committee of the Friends will host a clean    up day beginning at 10am on the Holderness Beach, led by Larry Spencer.  After the cleanup, Plymouth Rotary will host a burger lunch to reward workers.  Also at 10am, the Friends will hold greeter training for those who volunteer later in the summer to staff a presence on both sides of the river.

On June 13, the recreation committee of the Friends will organize a presentation on water safety with demonstrations by river rescue teams.  Hopefully, this will lead to a safe and healthy summer of enjoyment on the river.

On July 11, the historical committee of the Friends will give a presentation about the history of Livermore Falls, identify
the various uses of the river over time, point out the location of past buildings and talk about the impact this place has on the surrounding communities.

On August 8, the environmental committee will be present to educate visitors about the unique aspects of the area around the river and to discuss water quality and the steps taken to ensure that this river maintains its current pristine nature.

Finally on September 12, the Friends will host an end of summer season celebration beginning at 10am on the Holderness beach and continuing down the river on tubes, kayaks, boards or canoes and ending at the Plymouth Amphitheater for a barbeque with entertainment.

When you visit the Falls this summer, please save some time for the volunteers who will be there to greet visitors.
They would love to chat about the importance of the Pemi, the facts about
this special place and the many reasons that so many come from near and far to enjoy Livermore Falls.
